If you’re keen to sharpen your riding skills, or want to move up the ranks in eventing, what better way to kick things off than by getting advice and a training session from a rider at the top of the sport?

We’ve teamed up with British Horse Feeds and are giving away an awesome prize for you and your horse to train with James Sommerville. The 28-year-old has contested Badminton CCI4* and has myriad three-star placings under his belt, making him the ideal placed to help put you on the right track to achieve your riding goals.

The winner will visit a yard in Yorkshire (to be arranged between you and James) with their own horse for a private lesson.
What’s more, you’ll also win a year’s supply for two horses of either Speedi-Beet or Fibre-Beet, depending on your horse’s needs. Fibre-Beet is ideal if you have to watch your horse’s starch intake – it conditions and maintains energy levels, without the fizz that cereal-based feeds can give.

“Fibre-Beet is an excellent feed for our competition horses as it helps them maintain optimum energy levels,” says James. “It’s also great for keeping condition on horses, and to help keep dietary fibre levels high. It really has transformed some of the youngsters where previously condition was hard to maintain.”
Alternatively, you can opt for Speedi-Beet – a highly nutritious, quick-soaking feed that’s low in sugar and starch free, making it safe for laminitics. Suitable for a range of horses, it can be fed in small amounts to good-doers as a multivitamin supplement, or larger quantities to help poor-doers gain weight.

Once you’ve found space in your tack room for all the feed, it’s time to make room in your wardrobe.

As part of your prize, you’ll also receive:
Softshell jacket,
Plus, we’ll make sure your horse looks the part by decking him out in a branded saddlepad.

*Winners must have the lesson with James on their own horse and are responsible for transporting (including expenses) their horse to and from the Yorkshire-based yard. The yard will be arranged at a later date by the winner and must be in Yorkshire. Feed may be supplied as vouchers. Prize is not transferable or available in part.
